Also known as a hearing test, consists of a series of tests used to determine whether a hearing loss exists and, if so, measure its type, degree and configuration. An audiologist will assess the results of each individual test in order to develop a treatment plan geared toward your unique hearing loss.

A healthcare provider may order a vestibular evaluation if you have dizziness, vertigo, or balance problems. This evaluation includes a series of tests to asses the inner ear’s balance system. Vestibular evaluations can help identify if inner ear issues are causing balance problems. They can also provide additional information when a physical exam doesn't fully explain the cause of dizziness.

Owner/Clinical AudiologistDr. Montaño earned her doctoral degree at the University of Utah in 2020. She completed clinical internships at the University of Utah Hospital, Salt Lake City Veterans Affair Hospital, and UT Southwestern Medical Center Dallas.
Board Certified Audiologist with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a member of the American Academy of Audiology.
Primary specialties include pediatric and adult diagnostic hearing evaluations, vestibular evaluations, and VA hearing services.

Owner/Clinical AudiologistDr. Martinez earned his doctoral degree at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in 2017. He completed clinical internships at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale and Cleveland Clinic Ohio.
Board Certified Audiologist with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a member of the American Academy of Audiology.
He previously worked at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX and currently serves as a Subject Matter Expert for auditory research. He has also delivered a number of presentations on topics including Vestibular Disorders and Hearing Loss Prevention.
Primary specialties include adult diagnostic hearing and vestibular evaluations, VA hearing services, and hearing aid devices.

Hearing loss often occurs gradually and the individual may not be aware of a problem. In fact, it is not uncommon for a hearing loss to be first detected by a family member, who is having to speak louder or repeat themselves. Early signs of hearing loss include:
Turning the TV or radio volume louder than other family members
Asking for repetition frequently
Difficulty understanding speech in the presence of background noise, like a restaurant
Difficulty hearing children and women more than men
Difficulty hearing in meetings
Ringing in the ear(s) when no external sound is present

Tinnitus is the technical term for ringing in the ears. The most common cause of tinnitus is hearing loss.

Located in the the inner ear, the vestibular system provides information about balance, motion, and the location of the head and body in relation to surroundings. It also helps with the sensation of orientation and acceleration of the head. Disorders of this system can cause symptoms of imbalance or dizziness.
